Experiment-1 Understanding Basic Components
Purpose of the experiment:
To understand the use of potentiometer and calculations for voltage divider network.
Theory:
Current through a resistance I = V/R.
Voltage across resistance = IR
Explaination:
Observe the following circuit diagram which is self-explanatory.
For the slider position of the potentiometers as shown in diagram current through resistance would be
I = 9/(12K+4K) = 0.5625 mA.
Due to this current voltage drop from point “d” to “a” in potentiometer B would be
V = I*R = 0.5625mA * 6K = 3.375V
Activity:
Start the simulation at bottom of page and....
-
Change the positions of potentiometers as per the diagram and observe voltage is as per calculated voltage.
-
Try different positions; calculate theoretical voltage and measure actual voltage.
and note down the result in follwing table.
Read the simulation circuit notes by kepping Annotation ON

After that you may put it OFF
